Brook trout - Salvelinus fontinalis

Brook trout is not indigenous, it was introduced and, as with rainbow trout, it does spawn in our rivers, mainly in the Radovna river. It can cross breed with brown trout, giving rise to offspring called tiger trout: these are rare and not fertile.

• Spawning time: December - March
• Can grow up to 60 cm (23 inches), 4 kilos (11 pounds)
• Sizes up to14 inches can be regularly caught
